Things to get excited about!!

#1. NEW YORK CITY!!! Going to be with two of my best friends in the whole world... flying out with Mara from SLC at 1:45 on Thursday and Larissa will be picking us up from the JFK airport at 10:00 that night! I can not wait!!! A lot of updating will take place after that, don't fret! Look out New York City!
#2. The Proposal!!! Anyone, and I mean anyone, that has ever even met me knows what a huge Sandy fan I am! (By Sandy , I mean Sandra Bullock, of course we are on a nick name basis) Her new movie comes out on June 19th!!! Let me just give you a little run down: Maggie (Sandra Bullock) is a book editor, who forces her assistant Andrew (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her in order to avoid being deported to Canada. He grudgingly accepts in order to keep his job. When the government investigates, the two are forced to spend the weekend with his parents in Alaska in order to sell the lie. Bah! I am SO excited!! You should probably go visit this site!

#3. Starting Sports Camps!! Despite me staying in Provo all summer...again. I am lucky to be able to be staying here and doing something as fun as Counseloring at Sports Camps! It is so fun! Getting paid to play, dance, eat, sleep (occasionally discipline) and go to 7 Peaks with thousands
of screaming kids...does not get better than that!

Counselors hanging in the Lobby!

My girls from track and field week! One of my favorites!

Well those are just a few of the many many things I have to look forward to this summer! Be excited for updates!!!

Just doing some updatin'

Well friends and fam (and the random people who I don't know are reading my blog), These past few weeks have been jam packed with activities...and spending WAY too many hours in the Library studying my life away for finals. Coming from me, a person who her whole first year of college library hours amounted to a whopping like 4, I really did not spend that much time in the library compared to others who do not value their social life like I do! But I was there until closing (2 am) 3 nights in a row...and it was actually kind of fun! Finals ended and they are over and done with and you can't go back and change it now, so I have developed this amazingly good skill of after leaving the testing center, I just completely forget about my final, whether I did good or bad on it! And now I am SO ready for summer!!!! For those of you who don't know, I got hired as a Sports and Dance Camp counselor again this summer, so I will still be living in Provo in my same apartment! I am rather excited...although come July that will be two straight years I have lived in Provo, nothing against P-Town, it is just a long time to be some where! My family was in town this last weekend because my sister GRADUATED!!!! Yeah, she is kind of a big deal, graduating from college and all. Here are a few photos from the blessed event:
The really great view of the Cougar. Thanks lady who took our picture!

All the BYU Grads are really predictable. They all take pictures by the exact same signs and all have mile long lines...this sign did not have ONE person waiting by it! I am so awesome! ;)

Bex, does this look familiar?

Yeah, I don't know why I am still majoring in El Ed, I am such a good photographer!

See what I mean?! (Really though, don't you LOVE this photo?!)
Cute sibling shot!

The fam damily that decided to show up for the occasion!

Awkward hand photo... bah ha ha.

We are getting really good at these pictures, in case you could not tell! HSM anyone?

My and Krista's sad face about the fact that Brianna is growing up and moving on with her life. Good thing neither of us are Theater majors...

...and Cedar High's Student Body President for 2009-2010 is....

SARYN HAYNIE!!!!

Yes friends and family, it is true, my little sister Saryn is Student Body President. As Helaman would say...and everyone else I tell....she is a way bigger deal than I ever was! ;) Cedar High sure is in for a treat!! She is going to do such an amazing job and I can not wait to see what she does with this new title and the improvements to Cedar High. She is absolutely amazing and I am just so extremely proud of her! She exceeded all expectations and put in so much work and stress and tears...no, really TEARS... into making her posters, banner, and skit perfect! But it was all worth it in the end. After putting our heads together for many hours, and much help from the fam, we came up with a genius idea for her campaign. Here are a few of her posters for your viewing pleasure. I will hopefully have the video of her skit, that was PHENOMENAL and extremely witty, next week so you guys can see what won everyone over!

I LOVE YOU SARYN !!!

Annie G. Unit #1

As she is so fondly known by my phone as... I got my phone when I was a Senior in high school (2 whole years ago now!) and of course she could just not be Annie Gardner in my phone, way to original! Anyway, today is my friend Annie's 20th birthday and I could be super cliche and say 20 reasons why I love Annie...but I think she would be embarrassed by that and then would feel awkward talking to me. So instead I will just stick to really great pictures and maybe just a few reasons why I think she is so great and a quick run down of our friendship! As I was looking through pictures that Annie and I have together, trying to decide which ones to post, I have come to realize how pretty she is and how not pretty I am... that's unfortunate! So, I am not going to post them! hahaAnnie and I 'met' in 6th grade when she was in Ms. Myers class with Kayla Lucky and Anna McGhie. We never really hung out then, because people in Ms. Myers class kind of only hung out with their own, but we knew each other. ;) Next came Cedar Middle School, 7th grade. We would sit at the same circular lunch table because of our mutual friends, and I think one time we hung out oustide of school actually. That was a big day! To make a long story short, in 8th grade Kayla and Anna did not really hang out with us a whole lot, but Annie realized how cool I was, and stuck around! right. Come the end of 8th grade, it was time to go to different high schools; Annie to be a Canyon View Falcon and me to be a Cedar High Redman! We were all going to take a friend picture during the last week on school, and Annie did not show up! She went to Arctic Circle instead of being in our group photo as friends before we separated and went to different high schools and never spoke to each other again...OK so that last part was a little dramatic. But it was a rough day none the less, and I was super depressed. After our school split, Annie and I would spend way to many hours on the phone with each other! My parents were always telling me to get off the phone at the 15 minute mark, and I was incredibly jealous because Annie's parents did not even care how long she was on the phone! We hung out periodically and I would always go support her during her basketball games! Never cheering for Canyon View, just for her individually! We would frequently email back and forth, I think mostly out of boredom, but they made for some super funny emails back and forth. We would get together radomly to make bread purses, and I would bring her baked goods. Sometimes she was too good for me and could only hang out with her basketball friends, I wished everyday to be as cool as them! Well it has now been 8 years since I met Annie and what do you know? We are still friends! I love going to Cedar and being able to visit and hang out with her despite all of the other things she could be doing and the other people she could be hanging out with! She always makes my laugh hysterically and I just love being with her!! Love you Annie! ;)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNIE G.!!

Bi-Polar Utah...especially Provo

The weather in Provo, well in Utah really, drives me crazy. Ever since I moved to Cedar City, when I was 8, I remember getting really excited that second week of March for the beautiful weather we were having! I would get out my shorts, get all excited about playing in the sprinklers and going swimming and wake up the next morning to...snow. Sick. Well ever since then I came up with this theory, If I dress for summer it will come faster. This made for a whole lot of freezing days in my life, as it would be snowing in April and I would still be wearing shorts and flip flops. I just wanted to defy the weather, and regretted it every time. My theory never proved to be right, but I just wanted summer to come so badly! As I got older, it never improved. Since I have been in Provo the past two years there are those few weeks in March that is looks like this: (AMAZING!)Then the week after looks a little something like this:
That is so not ok with me! The reason I am ranting about this today is because of how good I looked in my shorts and flip flops yesterday when the high was a whopping 65 with not a cloud in the sky, and when I woke up this morning I could not even see the sun because of the amount of gray clouds that are taking over Provo. There is snow on the forecast for tomorrow... I think I might just sit in my apartment all day! First reading day, no need to even leave!

Exit 59

There is just a feeling that I get, when I see the sign "Exit 59 Cedar City" that leaves me feeling ridiculously excited about life! For those of you who have never been to Cedar, I highly suggest you make it part of your next road trip itinerary. The red mountains against the city is enough to leave anyone breathless. I think I am somewhat bias, but I mostly think it is because of how I grew as a person there and the things I learned about myself. I have come to recognize that my love for Cedar never would have developed to what it is now, if I never would have left. I have come to appreciate it for what it is! When I go back I instantly have so many memories rush back to me. As I make my way to my home, many memories come back; dragging main with friends, while belting out Carrie Underwood with the windows down and thinking we looked so hot and that all the guys wanted us...I mean, why would they not?!

As I pass Wendy's I remember the times during the Summer Games. Larissa and I had shifts that started at 6 am and and did not end until 4:30, the line was out the door all day and I wanted more than anything to take the "Busses Welcome" off our sign and add an air conditioner to the drive-thru window. Do you guys have ANY idea how many soccer players compete in the Summer Games? About 1,000 too many!

As I pass Mr. Bubbles I recall the time with Courtney and Tenille of washing Court's car. The passenger side window (where I was fortunate enough to be sitting) got mysteriously stuck... The entire duration of the car wash. We got soaked. Court later told us that it actually was not stuck and she just was holding down the button. We were furious at the time, can not stop laughing whenever I think back on it now. Of course these are just 3 of the thousands and thousands of memories I have of Cedar City. Bike riding, Track meets, Park Discovery tag, Super Wal-Mart (no trip to Cedar is complete unless you stop here), Canyon Park swings, the Metro, Garren's roof, the Bug, friend's houses, and so many more. The size, the people, the location, my schools, the smell, the mountains, my house, everything about Cedar is enough to cause me to smile!

So the real reason for this post is because I went home this last weekend. Just consider that a super long introduction to the events of my weekend. Well it was General Conference and I was really excited to be home. It is one of those things that when you are not there you can imagine exactly what your family is doing, and you miss it terribly. Well I did not have to miss it, because I was actually there! I loved everything about conference, as I am sure most of you did! The spirit was incredibly strong, and despite the popular belief of people I know, you actually CAN feel the spirit when you are not in the Conference Center! ;)

It was also Saryn's Junior Prom on Saturday and being Junior Class Vice President, she had to do a lot, if not all, of the planning. It turned out amazing! She looked absolutely beautiful, thanks to the artistic abilities of my mother and I, oh and of Saryn's natural beauty that made enhancing it a breeze! My mom made her dress and I was ridiculously jealous of the orange and wish that I would have asked for an orange dress when I was still getting asked to things like that! I also realized that I have been incredibly spoiled having the mother I do!

I will just have to tell my kids to go to Grandma if they want amazing stuff like that! Of course Krista, Annie and I had to make an appearance at Cedar High's Prom. It is fine that people think I can not get out of high school. It was my sisters work and I know in my heart that I am so over high school, and would never go back! ;)

After our grand appearance at Prom we went back to my house and just chilled. I love doing that. I love my house and I love my couches, and my carpet, and my family room and not feeling stressed about anything. My brother, Bryson, came home and I just can not even believe what a stud he is. Girls practically fawn over him, and he is my little brother. I love him. Anyway, he hung out with us for a while and apparently he had had a long day, because these are the kind of pictures we started taking...
Yes, he is wearing a tiara in this photo.
As for this one, I don't even know what to say! So hot right?

Love my family, love Cedar, and I love being able to go and visit. I think that is something that I take for granted too often. From this post, you would think that I am ridiculously home sick and I hate what I am doing with my life. FALSE. I am obsessed with college and Provo and I currently am in LOVE with my life!

The day of April First

The origin of April Fools' Day is obscure. In many pre-Christan cultures May Day (May 1) was celebrated as the first day of summer, and signaled the start of the spring planting season. An April Fool was someone who did this prematurely. Another origin is that April 1 was counted the first day of the year in France. When King Charles IX changed that to January 1, some people stayed with April 1. Those who did were called "April Fools" and were taunted by their neighbors. In the eighteenth century the festival was often posited as going back to the times of Noah. An English newspaper article published on April 13th, 1789 said that the day had its origins when he sent the raven off too early, before the waters had receded. He did this on the first day of the Hebrew month that corresponds with April. (Thank you Wikipedia)

Whatever the real origin is, no matter how it
started, April Fools' Day has become a day many college students look forward to. Yes, every day in college is the time to prank friends...and potential girl/boy friends mercilessly, but at least on this day there is an excuse.

Here is what went down in Wellington 4 today:
10:00- Francie calls Bri and asks her if she or anyone she knows is playing a prank on her. Brianna obviously answers back that she has no idea of anything of the like going on. I am in my room at this point and Brianna tells me what has been happening to France and I die laughing. While taking a quiz on my computer I miss two phone calls from unknown numbers, thank goodness they both leave messages! I hate missing unknown numbers calls and have no idea what they needed. So I go to listen to the messages and this is how the first one starts out, "Hi, my name is Janesa Anderson*, and I am just calling in reference to your sign I just saw in the JFSB about conference tickets. AM and PM sessions, either would be fine. Just call me back when you get this and let me know how many you have left." You what?! Next message, "Hi Kendra, this is Jake Kenton, and I am just calling about the sign I saw on the front doors of the JFSB..." OK, this is not happening. Oh, actually it happened. I call Francie and we think all of the possible suspects who would of been witty and motivated enough to do something like this. We decide on our suspect. Isaac Ipson^. I get to my class after not answering 6 phone calls from unknown numbers. I was absolutely dying laughing and my teacher wanted to know why. He made me stand in front of the whole class and let everyone in on this little joke that was being played. Everyone loved it and I asked if I could keep my phone on ring instead of vibrate just to let everyone know when another call came, he said no. Apparently he was never a huge fan of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song. hmmm Anyway, after class I check my 8 new voicemails that I have acquired over the hour and fifteen minute class I have been in. I hear about signs that were posted in the HBLL, (for non BYU-ers the library), the JSB, the Marb, and Francie's favorite, the men's locker room in the RB. Thank you Isaac! A few minutes later I receive this picture message from Francie. Who's number is that (with a few alterations...I can't just post my number on the web!)? Mine of course! These signs, along with others that had Francie's number on them, were hung up all over BYU Campus. What a great day. One of the voicemails that I received was rather heart wrenching. It was a guy named Jeremy. He needed two tickets to conference. He wanted to propose to his girlfriend this weekend at the conference center and knew it would just make the spirit of the day so much better if they had a session of conference to attend afterwards or before, he had not yet decided. I did not have the heart to call him back and let him know it was all a hoax. Also received another voicemail that was quite similar, except after he left the voicemail he also texted me. The text went as follows: "Hey, this is Ethan, I just left you a message and sorry to bug you. I did not know if you were checking your voicemail so I thought I'd text. I have a teacher that says it is good to be tenacious if you really want something. If you have an extra ticket or two, I'd love to be considered. My girlfriend and I are saving up our money to get married this summer. I wanted to surprise her this weekend at conference to make it official. I just don't want to have to do it in front of the protesting crown. It is just not as good a mood. Well, thanks. It is good to know there are great spirits like yourself in this world." What am I even supposed to say to that?! Lucky for me, I came to find out later that my amazing cousin Cali told some of her co workers about our plight and he thought of this little plan! It was genius and so funny. Glad it was not true. As for the aforementioned, maybe his bishop has some extra tickets! France also got a call about a man here from South Africa who has never been to that States let alone Utah and was dying and would love the chance to go to General Conference. Telling him it was just a joke, was just awful sad. In the end I got a total of 55 phone calls today while France had over 45. It was one crazy day! Props to Isaac in thinking of a prank that would not be over in a few minutes, but would last over 10 hours!
*Names have been changed to protect the identities of innocent ticket wanters
^Name not changed because everyone deserves to know it was him

In trying to get retribution, we decided on the following prank, posting Isaac's car for sale on KSL under the
classifieds for wicked cheap. (Thank you Tara) We go take pictures and I call my dad in hopes of posting some information to make the car sound real good.

This beauty, is Isaac's car. I would like you to know that the 115 is actually after just 20 minutes of being on the internet! Incredible! :) When we finally took it off, it had been up there for about 2.5 hours and had over 500 views. Man, we are good! He was in class as that time and always turns his phone off, he got out of class, turned his phone on and had 20 new voicemails! His mailbox was completely full. People sent him text messages and kept calling, he felt super popular for the night! ;) Overall it was very successful although, one family thought it was an answer to prayers. We quickly deleted that ad after that!
So now it is Wednesday night and Isaac did finally fess up. He is coming over later and we are all excited to compare stories of the many phone calls that we all received today! What a joy!

THIS my friends, was the story that finally put me over the top and just made me get a blog! (You were expecting something more exciting weren't you?!) But really, how could I not let the whole world in on this story?! It was absolutely necessary!

The Entrance into 'my own' blogging world!

So friends and family and acquaintances and random people who are going to be reading this, I have finally caved and started my own blog. I am rather excited to update people on my life, despite the fact that it might be rather mundane and monotonous. I figure if you really love me you will be willing to read it regardless of what is going on! The primary reason being: I always have such good ideas and very intelligent thoughts pop into my head that I just want to share with everyone, the problem is, no one ever wants to listen to my thought provoking conversation. This way I kill 2 birds with one stone. I get to talk about things that no one cares about, get them off my chest, and the people I do not talk to on a daily basis...which is pretty much everyone, gets to know what I am doing 24/7 while living in Provo! Great Day! The secondary reason being: I always tell people I do not need a blog because Cali blogs and we have the same life. As of late I have come to realize that one day Cali will get married and all of a sudden we will not live the exact same life. This being said, she will stop blogging about what is going on in my life and just focus on hers...talk about selfish. But it is bound to happen one day.

So why did I choose today to enter the blogging world? Well that will be announced in just a few short hours...and no people, I am definitely not engaged, getting engaged or even dating if that is what you were thinking!
